I am a tropical ecologist, and my main research focus is the plants' recurrent life cycles (Phenology), plant-animal interactions and the influence of anthropogenic disturbances, especially climate change.
I study from tropical forest to savannas and grasslands combining temporal ecology, with perspectives from population, communities to ecosystems, evolutionary biology, and biometeorology. Recently, I have addressed phenology at several scales and its contributions to biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, carbon cycles, ecosystem services and human wellbeing. Founder of the first tropical phenology network (since 2012): the e-phenology network
